The Music Enthusiast Podcast # 9 – “…I Don’t Know Fear & I Don’t Know Pain…”

Welcome, to the final single digit episode of The Music Enthusiast Podcast (’cause next week I hit the big 1-0)! On the first half of this show I cover a little bit of everything. We kick things off with the spectacular Denton based singer/songwriter, Doug Burr. I play a song from a alternative/indie/rock band from Toronto, The Heartbroken, before getting in your face with some metal, supplied by Down From Zero, and wrap things up with a rock song by 4Q. Plus I go over the concert calendar for the upcoming week.

On the premium side of the show you get to hear some tunes by Darstar, the Whiskey Folk Ramblers, the Holy Rolling Empire, The Couch, and Reckless Intent.

But if you want to hear that second half, you need to be a subscriber to the Dark Side, with prices beginning as low as $15.

Thanks for listening, visit my blog if you feel so inclined, and I’ll see you next show!

Double Shot #3 – Suicide Playstation Bomber

Crazy ass and OUTSTANDING SHOW!  Chrys “anal rapist” Starr was not here… because he cut his cock off while playing with knives!  So this Double Shot is just WhiskeyBoy and Producer Lance.  It starts off a little rough… cause Whiskey is all pissed at Starr and Tank… then we talk with Tank on the phone and move on to better topics.  We play some Pimpadelic… talk shit to our listeners in the chat room and then… HILARIOUS PRANK CALLS!!  We call some dumb kids selling stuff on Craigslist and really have some fun with them.  I even ask one if he is an illegal immigrant or a suicide bomber.  TOTALLY worth a listen!  It’s been a long time since we did prank calls on the show and now I think we will ALWAYS end the Double Shot with Prank Calls!  Here are the links to the two videos that we talk about on the show:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwc8A2QoF3g&feature=youtu.be  –  Gross Fat Guy

WBR #117 – Whitney Houston, Rains & Done Deal!

What do Pop icon Whitney Houston, Rock group Rains and Texas Rockers Done Deal have in common?  They are the ONLY TOPICS we cover in this episode.. not really, but we make a lot of Dead Whitney Jokes!  We play an interview with Jeff Rains, frontman of the nationally touring group RAINS, (we find out Jeff’s preference involving Boxers or Briefs, Beer or Liquor and Tits or Ass!) then we play their killer tune “Look in My Eyes”, special guest hosts are the band Done Deal… all chilling with us on Skype and bringing an interesting twist to the show.  We talk Whitney Houston, Crack Hoes, Flu Epidemics, Chipmunk masturbation and SO much more… along with a tune from Done Deal!

In the second hour we have the return of Love Poems with Tank and we play ‘Would you rather’ with Done Deal… see who wants to stick an electric eel up their ass!  Plus i’m pretty sure we mention McCaully Culkin havin THE AIDS… and we all joke about him snorting Whitney Houston’s dead body.  AND we uncover the terrifying truth to Michael Jackson’s death.  We also talk about how the Catholic church really picks the pope! It’s an EXCITING show.. but to hear the whole thing, you have to be a Dark Side Subscriber… memberships start at $15!

We’ll see you on the next episode!  Thanks to Messer for providing our show’s Theme Song!

The Music Enthusiast Podcast # 8 – The Music Submit Show (Part 2)

WBR: East Coast #3 – Cock and Underwear

Thank God for Episode 3.

Double Shot #2 – Fags vs Christians

OK, folks.. it’s the grudge match for the ages… The Butt stuffing, interior decorating Queers in one corner… the wholesome, bible wielding Christians in the other… DON’T MISS IT!  Plus we talk Boobs, breast cancer, fortune cookies, and all sorts of bullshit… of COURSE WhiskeyBoy spends the first section of the show losing his mind.  Along with Chrys Starr and Producer Lance we hope you enjoy this episode of The Double Shot Podcast.  Visit us on facebook at www.facebook.com/doubleshotpodcast … and until next time, enjoy the madness!!!

WBR #116 – A Beer, A Gun, & A Vagina

Fun filled, exciting show, folks!  First, we rip apart the band Staind… and tell you why they are shitty! Then we talk about MIA and her fucking middle finger & what it means for the Super Bowl… We play some Miser, talk about some bullshit, then WhiskeyBoy goes apeshit over the government, governmental control and then loses his ability to focus on ANYTHING.  We also talk about Randy Travis being arrested in Sanger, TX, we play an interview with Half-Stacked Heart-Attack and a song from The Commotion.  Much more things happen… they just weren’t written down and it all happened SO FAST!

On the Second hour we are joined by TWEAK; from the East Coast show, and we play the most disgusting round of ‘Would you Rather’ that has ever been played in HISTORY! Examples from the show:  Vomit Milkshake, Eat Crap or Butt Zit, Sand Paper Hands, Shit when you sit, drinking your mom’s period blood AND MORE!  It’s sick and twisted.. AND ONLY On the Dark Side!  SO join as a subscriber TODAY!

The Music Enthusiast Podcast # 7 – It’s Interview Time

Welcome to another edition of The Music Enthusiast Podcast. On this episode I play my first band interview I’ve done, which is with the band Night Gallery, and you get to hear about the first half of it on the first part of the show. I also play some songs from a couple Dallas bands, The Blurries, and Gray, the New Black, and even a band all the way from Calcutta, India, Ifs and Buts.

Over in the Dark Side I play the rest of the Night Gallery interview, followed by some songs from Smile Smile, Shaolin Death Squad, The Mermaid Purse, and Dove Hunter.

It’s a great little show, but remember you only get to hear all of it if you’re a member to the WhiskeyBoy Radio Network. So, if you’re not, consider subscribing for as low as $15 or $50 for a year long membership.

Red Angel Theory – ‘When the Dust Settles’ EP

REVIEW - Red Angel Theory – ‘When the Dust Settles’ EP

(by: Matt ‘WhiskeyBoy’ Blake)

The Long awaited EP from Red Angel Theory is finally coming!  Right now you can pre-order the Album for $1  on the band’s facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/redangeltheory!

Red Angel Theory is a four-piece hard rock band that hails from Dallas, Texas. Coming together in the late months of 2010, Red Angel Theory has begun to draw some attention. Fellow musicians and show attendees describe their live performances as “pure un-adulterated energy”, “each member of the group is a supernova of power.”
The band describes their message as a personal reflection of today’seconomic, political, and moral corruptions. “I want to convey a message of Independence and understanding. I want people to start seeing things for themselves again, to recognize control and disaster before it happens. Today we rely too much on what other people have to say, because we’re so detached from reality and our surroundings. We need to start paying attention again.” -Justin(vocals)

I got a chance to hear the album before the release, which will be March 1st, and I have not been able to stop listening!  The 6 tracks that make up the ‘When the Dust Settles’ EP are all unique, but similar enough that the whole thing flows together like a good book.  The title track is absolutely rock at it best.  Killer vocals that move from lyrical and sweeping to hard hitting and in your face are outstanding as Justin Ranton (front man) commands attention as a vocalist; But the stage is set by Brandon Deaton (guitarist) who’s work on this track is nothing short of amazing! Red Angel Theory is not only killer vocals and outstanding guitar work!  I was familiar with Nick Sarabia (Drums) from his work in one of my favorite bands from a few years back… he brings an almost metal sound to some of the tracks with his mastery in the art of percussion; and finally, but certainly no less important that any other member is bassist Phil Sahs… While the bass is not featured much, Phil’s presence can certainly be felt on every track.  Together these guys make a solid, talented and VERY easy to listen to brand of rock.

My personal favorite from the new EP is ‘Inception’, followed closely by ‘The Darkness’  both tracks have an eerie, almost ghost like start, but quickly turn into an audio rock feast for the ears.  These tunes remind me why I LOVE local rock groups.  These guys take a chance and do something a little unconventional in the rock scene and the result is, particularly is the case of “Inception”, a song that really stands apart and can make you excited about music.  Phenomenal is the best word to describe these two tracks… nothing short of phenomenal, folks!  This is music that will move you, enter you, rock you and leave you ready for more!  Yes, I said it… it’s like sex for your ear-hole, without the penetration!

Hit up Red Angel Theory’s Facebook page for more on the band, their shows and to buy the new EP ‘When the Dust Settles’.  Red Angel Theory will be playing at the first Texas Music Unites showcase, hosted and MC’d by Matt ‘WhiskeyBoy’ Blake of WhiskeyBoy Radio, on March 31st at The Curtain Club in Deep Ellum. Be sure to attend this ground breaking event!
