The Music Enthusiast Podcast #16 – You Were Only a Song

Who wants to hear some more KILLER Texas music with some tunes from across the U.S. and even the world thrown in!? If you do then you came to the right place. We begin a little slower with the wonderful singer/songwriter, Arielle O’Keefe, and then switch into rock gear with some Truffula Tree (NOTE: After recording this show, I discovered Truffula Tree is disbanding. The two shows of theirs I mention will be the last the band performs.) and In Memory of Man. I play a couple tunes from bands who are on tour and stopping by Dallas this week, which are Clepto and Plain Jane Automobile.  While NattyFox and Vinny Piana bring the show to a close.

I think it’s a good show with a nice range, both in style of music and where the bands are from, and I hope you enjoy it! Thank you for listening, visit my blog if you wish, and I hope to see you on the next episode of The Music Enthusiast Podcast!

The Music Enthusiast Podcast #15 – The Torch Entertainment Takeover Show

This episode is a FIRST, folks! I am joined, in studio, by one of the best promoters in the D-FW area, “Torch” of Torch Entertainment.

We do a little Q & A throughout the nearly two hour long show, and he even turns the tables on me for a minute asking me a question. We talk a little bit about everything, from music to TV, and even how apparently not all Americans hate Canadians and “gingers” (listen, you’ll understand.) And the question of the day? Where is Ty Griffin?

I also had Torch pick the playlist for this show, so we get to hear some tunes from some of his favorite bands, including Dark Horse Darling, No Scope, The Sammus Theory, Bult, Clepto, Redefine, Deaf Angel, Dawn Over Zero and Embrace the Embers.

This is a VERY fun show, and if you’ve been a fan of the past The Music Enthusiast shows, you should enjoy this one even more since it is totally different.

Check out Torchs’ pages: Official Website / Facebook / Tumblr / Twitter. Also, read THIS interview he did with Katie of Sawed Off Productions.

Thanks for listening everyone, and remember, I post a new show EVERY Sunday, so I hope to see you next week!

The Music Enthusiast Podcast #14 – The Times They Are a Changing

Episode 14 of The Music Enthusiast Podcast is totally different from any other (some of) you have ever heard before, because now you can listen to the full one plus hour of the show without being a member of the Dark Side. I get you ready for the Texas Music Unites launch party (happening March 31st at the Curtain Club) with the first several songs by spinning most of the bands who are playing the event. This includes Fantasma, Red Angel Theory, Moving Atlas and Dawn Over Zero. As if that wasn’t enough I play the single from The Winniebago Forcefield, then some music by Two Ton FolkClepto, and finish the show with a tune by Vajra. And I of course cover the concert calendar for the week, too.

WhiskeyBoy’s Dark Side will still be home to exclusive videos and such, though. So go visit the site and consider subscribing.

Thanks for listening everyone, and I hope you enjoy the new format of the show!

WBR #121 – I shit out my own Soul!

It’s a truly bizarre episode of the show.  In this marathon of Podcast greatness we learn WAY MORE about WhiskeyBoy than we EVER wanted to know… it’s the reverse interview episode!  After about 20 minutes of chatting and talking about new show stuff we move into the WhiskeyBoy Interview, conducted by Katie from Sawed-Off Productions.  We also have TANK rejoining the cast and Producer Lants on the Soundboard, via skype (and sounding all shitty!)  During the ENLIGHTENING interview we play some music from local rock monsters, NIGHT GALLERY, a band YOU should check out IMMEDIATELY!  After the first hour we do the Zimbabwe News, Tank’s Love Poem, Would you Rather and we shake off some live chat room haters.  Enjoy this FULL LENGTH episode… full of tasty goodness!

The Music Enthusiast Podcast #13 – The Music Submit Show Part 3

I figured it was time to do another Music Submit show, so the first half of the episode introduces you to Sheila Sondergard, Son of Skooshny and Men Who Listen, and of course I go over the concert calendar for the upcoming week.

On the second half I play another song from Clepto, as well as tracks by The 1969′s, Leatherbag, Early Pearl and Air Review.

Just a reminder, to hear the whole show you need to be a member of the WhiskeyBoy Radio Network, so subscribe HERE.

Thanks for listening everyone, I hope you enjoy!

The Music Enthusiast Podcast #12 – Wild Child

I think I may consider episode twelve to be one of my best shows yet! The first half is a little longer than usual and belongs mostly to the Austin band, Wild Child. I did an interview with them which I play first, and then spin a song of theirs. We go over the concert calendar for the week and before wrapping the first half I do a song from Ambassadors who is touring through Dallas soon.

The second half is like usual, being a slew of songs beginning with one from Ryan Hamilton. Zhora, Castle Lights, and Clepto also get some love, as does Jibe who is getting ready to REUNITE!

Just remember if you want to hear all the goodness in the second half you need to be a member of the WhiskeyBoy Radio Network. So join! Prices start as low as $15.

(Note: I also want to thank Melissa Cox of Music Box Media for setting up the interview I did with Wild Child, and one last thanks to the band for taking time to do it!)

WBR – New Music Monday with NOTHING MORE

Starting a new feature on WhiskeyBoy Radio… New Music Mondays… we will release a new track to you via a short little episode… we will also be doing a live video feed of the show when we play the new tune so we can, at times, get some listener feed back.

TONIGHT we played the new tune “Ballast” from AMAZING Texas rock group, Nothing More!  These guys are high energy and high intensity personified in musical form!  Great rock music that will, when heard live, force you to move your body!  As much as I have enjoyed their previous stuff, I am REALLY excited by the sounds of the new stuff!  Keep an eye on this band… they are playing Fort Worth at Tomcats this weekend… BE AT THAT SHOW!

Thanks for checking out WhiskeyBoy Radio… tell your friends!

The Music Enthusiast Podcast #11 – Watershed

Welcome all to another edition of The Music Enthusiast Podcast. I continue my quest of trying to turn you on to some bands you probably haven’t heard of before by playing some music by Mountain LionCrawley, Rainchild, and a band you will be hearing much more of here on the podcast, Clepto. I also go over a list of upcoming events in the D-FW area for the week as well as talk a bit about some of the concerts I saw from the past weekend.

In the second half of the show, I FINALLY do another album review. The band highlighted is Echo of Insanity, and after hearing my thoughts on the record you get to hear one of the bands songs. Things get real intense with a song by Red Shift, before I end the show with a song by Valve and then Distant Lights.

It’s not a bad little show if I do say so myself, but to hear the entire thing you must be a subscriber to the Dark Side. So check it out, with prices starting as low as $15.

Thanks for listening, visit my blog if you wish, and I hope to see you next time on The Music Enthusiast Podcast!

The Music Enthusiast Podcast #10 – “…A Lesson Learned Upon Your Knees…”

Who’s ready to hear some more music they most likely haven’t heard before? I hope you are, because  this episode (episode #10! HOORAY!) begins with a song by Alyssa Sease, before taking a real rock turn with some tunes by Daylight Industries and Born of Scars. Plus I of course go over the concert calendar, and also talk a bit about some of the concerts I saw from the past week, including the debacle that was Rains.

The Dark Side half of the show begins with the folk singer, Ronnie Fauss, who recently signed a deal with New West Records. The you get to experience the electronic sounds of the wonderful, Ishi, and I keep the electronic/rock vibe going with a tune from the late, great, Dirty Little Mouth. Finally, music from One Red Martian and Sonar Lights brings the show to an end.

If you’re not already, you need to be a subscriber to the Dark Side to hear the full show, so become a member with prices starting as low as $15.

Thanks for listening everyone, visit my blog if you feel so inclined, and I hope to see you on my next show!
